In the latter days of January Northern Michigan is experiencing our version of the January "THAW". That means that it is in the upper 30's to low 40's outside and that on the 24th we will be having rain instead of snow. In our opinion that forecast is perfect for that Sunday as there are the two NFL Divisional Championship Games being played in the afternoon and the evening. Bruce is picking the Colts to beat the Jets and the Saints to beat the Vikings and then (drum roll please) the Saints will take out the Colts in the SUPER BOWL. We know that you will love what you find there. As we get ready to move into February the Northern Michigan Wine Community is getting ready to launch their New Year of Events that are sure to please the wine lover in you. The first event is on the weekend of the 6th and 7th of February. The title of the event is "Taste the Passion" and it will take place at various Leelanau County wineries. You can find out more about the event by going to this web site, www.lpwines.com . Then on the 14th of February there is the "Winter Wine & Art Festival" at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa. Check out those events and make plans to come on up for either or both. The wine business is always evolving as vintners work on improving what they are already doing or on creating entirely new palate experiences for their clients. This process has been been energized even more by the global recession that we are experiencing. Price points have been falling steadily since mid 2008 and we expect to see that trend continue for the foreseeable future. As always we will keep our eyes open and our ears to the ground to ferret out the best wine deals that we can find and we will let you know when we do.
